Semi- Pelagic Doors - V Style Series 2000
The F/V Hickory Wind recently took delivery of a pair of 6.5m² Series 2000 V-Style trawl doors. Fishing out of Kodiak, Alaska, for sole and flounder, captain Denis Cox set up the doors and bottom net to fish semi-pelagic, with the doors off bottom and the net on bottom. The doors operated flawlessly, maintaining spread throughout the tows while being easy to set and haul back. The vessel was able to turn sharply as the doors stayed steady and upright. The Hickory Wind was able to complete a successful delivery of sole and flounder, and was seen leaving Kodiak Harbor on their next trip with NETS Series 2000 V-Style doors on it’s stern.
The 6.5 meter Series 2000 V style trawl doors were used without adding weights or any special rigging. The doors performed well under normal rigging in all circumstances riding tall, spreading well, steady and a stable door.
